All villagers and friends are invited to a ‘Castle Hill Caper’ on Sunday, October 4th. Please meet at 1.00pm at the Rose and Crown. The walk is to Castle Hill – a good place for a stop to enjoy the views! – and back via Molly Carr Wood.
As I’m sure you will know, it is proposed that Denby CE (VA) First School, Farnley Tyas CE (VC) First School and Thurstonland (VC) First School federate from 1st January 2016.
The attached document below is the consultation document regarding this proposal, which is also available on the school website.
Please look at the document and follow the guidance in there to make your comments known.
Enough has been donated to fill a convoy, but help in packing it would be appreciated.
Yes, Thurstonland Community Choir rehearsals start again on 3rd September in St Thomas’ Church. New members are always welcome, and details are in the attached poster.
Our next concert will be in church on Sunday November 15th and will be based around a theme of Film and TV music, so mark your diaries for this and get the popcorn in!
You will see at the left hand side of this page 2 new links related to the St Thomas Community Building Project.
The upper link entitled “Community Building Project” will take you to the Facebook page for the project, regularly updated with information as we proceed to get designs and approval for developing the site.
The lower link “Thurstonland & Stocksmoor Recommended Services” takes you to a Facebook Group where, for a small donation, local trades can post details of their services, or villagers can post recommendations for their neighbours. All donations will go towards funding the re-development of the church. This is a closed group, so you will initially have to apply for membership before being able to join it – but don’t worry, all villagers are welcome and will be accepted!
As part of the Festival f Faith a fun time was had by all at the first Vicars and Curates Village Cricket Match…. Vicar’s won, due to the brilliance and sportsmanship of the opposing team who were magnanimous in defeat. The return leg will be played next year. What a wonderful evening!
Thank you to everyone who came, who played, supported, cheered, baked and cooked to make it such a fun event, one now firmly fixed in the Village calendar. A special thanks to Lee Booth the organiser, and to the Cricket Club for their hospitality.
